Privacy Policy for Tsarina

Overview

Tsarina is an app for signing PDF documents with digital certificates, and for checking the signatures documents already have, for iPhone, iPad and Mac. It has no ads, no accounts and no tracking. This privacy policy explains what happens to your information when you use it.

Your Documents, Certificates and Signatures

• The documents you open, sign or check are processed only on your device. We never receive them.
• Signed copies are saved where you choose.
• Certificates you import are kept in your device's keychain, protected by the system, and never leave your device. Certificates already in your Mac's keychain or on a smart card stay there.
• Your settings and saved signatures (drawings and images) are kept on your device.
• The demo certificate the app can make for trying it out exists only while the app is open.

Trusted Timestamps (Optional)

If you turn on “Add trusted timestamp”, Tsarina asks the timestamp server you specify (by default DigiCert's) to certify the time of signing. It sends a cryptographic digest of the signature, never the document. The server is run by a third party under its own privacy policy, and like any web request, the request reveals your IP address to it. Timestamps are off unless you turn them on.

Checking Certificates

When Tsarina checks whether a signature's certificate is trusted, your device's system may download missing certificates of the issuing authority from that authority's servers. Nothing about you or your documents is sent; like any web request, it reveals your IP address to those servers.

What We Don't Collect

• No personal information

• No email addresses, names or contact information
• No advertising or advertising identifiers
• No tracking across apps or websites
• No location data
• No cookies
• No usage analytics

In-App Purchases

Tsarina will offer an optional one-time purchase, Tsarina Pro, which removes the limit on free signings and the free-version watermark. Signing and checking signatures stay available without it.

• Purchases are handled entirely by Apple's App Store
• We never receive payment information

Crash Reports and Beta Testing

• If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device's settings, Apple may share anonymous crash reports and usage statistics with us. Apple controls this, and you can turn it off at any time.
• If you test Tsarina through TestFlight, Apple shares the feedback and screenshots you choose to send, crash reports, and the name or email address you joined with, as described by Apple's TestFlight terms. Screenshots may show the documents on screen: please use test documents when sending feedback.

Data Sharing

We do not share any data, because we do not collect any.

• No advertising networks
• No third-party analytics services
• No data brokers

Children's Privacy

Tsarina does not collect any information from users of any age, including children under 13.

Your Rights

• Access: everything Tsarina keeps is on your devices
• Deletion: deleting the app removes its data from the device, including certificates imported into it; signed copies you saved stay where you put them
• Control: timestamps are off unless you turn them on, and you choose the server

Legal Basis (EU Users)

We do not process your personal data. A timestamp server you choose processes the request it receives under its own privacy policy.

California Privacy Rights

For California residents: since we do not collect, sell or share personal information, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) disclosure requirements do not apply to Tsarina.

Changes to This Policy

If Tsarina ever changes what it does with your information, this policy will be updated before that version is released, with a new effective date.
